A time capsule was buried at The Lexicon on Tuesday 7 March 2017, to commemorate the date exactly six months until The Lexicon opens.
The capsule, due to be opened in fifty years’ time, contains 35 items primarily suggested by Bracknell residents. Items such as a £1 coin, news reports for the week, a map of Bracknell, the current average Bracknell house price and before and after photographs of the town centre are all included.
The capsule was buried by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) general manager Rob Morris, Mace project director Carl Wright, Bracknell Forest Council Mayor Cllr Tony Virgo and two special guests.
Sisters Jessica Sheridan, aged 10 and Amy Sheridan, aged six, who live in the town centre, were invited to be part of the historic event. A photo of the two sisters was also added into the time capsule.
Rob Morris, general manager for BRP says, “We are delighted to be marking six months to go until the opening of The Lexicon with a time capsule. The regeneration of the town centre is an important milestone in the town’s future and we therefore wanted to ensure we left an appropriate memento for Bracknell’s future residents.”
