The construction of The Lexicon Bracknell is progressing well and remains on target for opening in Spring 2017. Cladding and roofing works on the new Marks & Spencer store are ongoing and expected to be completed in Spring 2016. Work to install the pre-cast concrete structure for the new multi-storey car park commenced in November. The steel work structure for the new Fenwick store has been completed with cladding and roofing works expected to start by the end of 2015. Construction of the steel framework for the Cineworld multiplex, and retail and restaurants beneath is ongoing.
This work is on schedule to be completed in Spring 2016. The next pieces of steelwork due to start this month will be to the new H&M store in December with work to construct the steel framework for Topshop following in January. Moving on to Charles Square, demolition has commencedand is due to be completed in early 2016. Simon Russian, Development Manager for Legal & General on behalf of the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, comments: “The last couple of months have been an exciting time for the scheme as construction momentum has really picked up.
"The progression of steelwork is evident with two finished structures on site and the commencement of steelwork for the new cinema block. We are very pleased with the progress being made on site and are excited that residents are able to see increasing visibility of how the new scheme is taking shape." Councillor Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, commented: "It's amazing to see our new town centre being constructed so quickly. Since Mace started work in the spring so much work has been carried out, including laying the extensive foundations and putting up three sets of massive steelwork.
"Next year promises to be even more exciting with the majority of the construction work due to be finished before The Lexicon opens its doors in spring 2017."
