Bracknell Forest Council and Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) have today announced a three year sponsorship deal for the borough’s largest community sports event, the Bracknell Half Marathon.
The race, which will be renamed The Lexicon Bracknell Half Marathon for the period of the sponsorship, has been running for 32 years and attracts in the region of 1,000 runners and thousands more spectators around the race route.
In addition to the new name, The Lexicon will receive extensive branding in the run-up to the race and on the day itself, which next year takes place on 7 May 2017.
Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection said: “This investment by the Lexicon is a demonstration of the half marathon’s success having stood the test of time over many years, as well as the true partnership between the council and BRP in bringing our shared vision for the new town centre to life.”
In future years the marathon route will take in the exciting sites of the iconic new town centre, offering superb vantage points from its public open spaces nestled by one million square feet of prime retail and leisure space.
Rob Morris, general manager at Bracknell Regeneration Partnership said: “We know what a popular and engaging community event the half marathon is and so were delighted to get involved. The three year sponsorship provides us with the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of The Lexicon both in the run-up to opening in September 2017 and beyond.”
